Sarah Kinder
Sarah was baptised at St Michael’s and All Angels Church of England, Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire.

At the time of her birth, her parents and older brother Thomas born 1838 were living at Wellington Street, Dukinfield[2].

Sarah appears in the 1851 UK Census as an 8 year old Scholar.  The family then lived in Davi(e)s Street, Dukinfield.  By now the family had grown by another two children James born 1843 and Cyrus born 1855 but Cyrus was not shown in this census.

By 1861, Sarah's father, John had taken over the Beer Shop at 20 Wharf Street, Dukinfield.  All of Sarah's 4 living siblings were included in this census.  Samuel born 1845 had already passed away.  Sarah was 19 years old, unmarried and was working as a Cotton Weaver[4];

1861 Census

In 1871, Sarah was still at home with her parents at 123 Astley Street, Dukinfield.  She was 29 years old, still unmarried and continued to work as a Cotton Weaver[5]

Passing On
Sarah can't be found in the 1881 UK Census.  There is a death recorded in CheshireBMD for Sarah Kinder in 1878 in Dukinfield aged 36[7].  This is most likely her.  What was the cause of her death?  Illness or industrial accident?  The death certificate may reveal this.
